Kwynton “TJ” Johnson is a student in Georgetown’s College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in economics. His passion for policy was nurtured as he worked in the Intelligence Community performing intelligence analysis at the Department of Defense/War for three years. Briefing and interacting with high-level policymakers in his adolescence informed him of the true consequences policy had on the livelihoods of those around him. After his stint in the Intelligence Community, he pivoted to working at the Georgetown University Investment Office, where he is currently exploring his strong interests in growth equity, venture capital, and startups.

On campus, Johnson is a George F. Baker Scholar, a Georgetown-backed pre-professional business program that immerses students with a liberal arts background in various facets of the business industry. The goal of the program is to create ethical business leaders who are socially conscious of the impact they have on the world.

Johnson is eager to engage in the FinPolicy trek to learn more about the intersection of economic growth and regulation. He hopes to understand how policymakers and market participants consider the security and ethical implications of investments into growing industries, including tech, defense, and others. Johnson is from Baltimore, MD, and in his free time, he enjoys lifting weights, playing basketball and cards, and watching the Dallas Cowboys nearly make the Super Bowl every year.
