This week, the Psaros FinPolicy Scholars had the privilege of joining distinguished fellow and former Congressman Patrick McHenry for dinner. McHenry gave us an insider’s look into the workings of government and global policy.
From how a government shutdown actually unfolds from a policymaker’s perspective, to insights on the federal budget process, and even the relationships that shape collaboration among House members, the conversation was both eye-opening and energizing.
The group also discussed how to make an effective “ask” of government, examined the interplay between domestic policy and the international economy, and reflected on how global dynamics have contributed to China’s rise over the past few decades.
The students had a chance to learn, ask questions, and walk away with a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing both the U.S. and the global community.
