The Psaros FinPolicy Scholars had the incredible opportunity to spend an evening with Marisa Lago, whose distinguished career spans key public and private sector roles.
Lago’s experience includes serving as the Under Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce for International Trade, where she led the International Trade Administration. She has also held positions such as Director of the NYC Department of City Planning and Chair of the New York City Planning Commission, Assistant Secretary for International Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Director of the International Affairs Office at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and Global Head of Compliance at Citi.
During this engaging session, students had the chance to discuss Lago’s diverse background, from urban planning to navigating the complexities of government at every level. She emphasized the importance of active listening and how expressing genuine interest can lead to unexpected and rewarding opportunities.
