We welcomed David Schwimmer of LSEG back to FMQ to discuss geopolitics, LSEG’s expansion into uncleared derivatives, and more. In his conversation with Neil Irwin, Schwimmer weighed in on a topic top of mind when it comes to market structure: the impact of AI.
Schwimmer told us about how LSEG is using AI functionality — including to drive internal efficiency when responding to customer queries and a product it’s building with Microsoft — but also acknowledged potential risks.
There are aspects of AI you have to take a close look at from a financial stability section, he said. “To have speed bumps and kill switches is important.” It’s also crucial to be able to identify where information that is feeding these AI models is coming from.
