In partnership with Graduate Women in Business (GWiB), the Psaros Center for Financial Markets and Policy hosted a panel on “Succeeding as Women in Male-Dominated Industries.”
The panel highlighted five female Hoyas working in male-dominated industries:
- Caroline Morris, CFP®, ChFC®, CLF®, CLU®, RICP® (CAS ‘05), Managing Director at Financial Growth Partners
- Catherine S. Marquette, MBA, Director of Sports Marketing and Head of Collegiate Partnerships at Under Armour
- Hanna Shum, CPA (MBA ‘19), Vice President at State Street
- Karoline Vinsrygg (MBA ‘06), Partner at Egon Zehnder
- Lisa Mayr (MBA ‘98) Chief Financial Officer at Marigold.
The panelists discussed their nonlinear career journeys, the unique challenges and opportunities of being a woman in a male-dominated industry, the importance of mentors, and what advice they would give to women entering these industries. They all shared the importance of authenticity in the workplace, as well as understanding one’s own self worth, especially as women.
Following the panel, Professor Allison Koester sat down with Mannone Butler, Head of Programs and Partnerships at the National Basketball Social Justice Coalition, to share insights on her remarkable career and the power of relationships and perseverance.
