Sophia Ivanov is a sophomore in the McDonough School of Business, pursuing majors in finance and accounting. Originally from Westchester, New York, she enjoys photography, running, and playing and watching soccer. On campus, Ivanov is actively involved in Georgetown Student Capital Partners, the Finance Society, McDonough Women, and the Venture in the Capital Summit. Next summer, she will join Goldman Sachs as a FICC and equities summer analyst.

Ivanov also serves as a research assistant with the Psaros Center, where she researches public-private partnership (PPP) models and infrastructure finance. Through volunteering at the Financial Markets Quality Conference and collaborating closely with a visiting fellow on policy research, she has gained firsthand exposure to how regulatory frameworks influence capital allocation, infrastructure investment, and long-term economic growth.

Ivanov’s interest in financial policy stems from her longstanding curiosity about the intersection of markets and regulation. While coursework first introduced her to these dynamics, her sustained involvement with the Psaros Center has transformed that curiosity into a deeper commitment. She is excited about the FinPolicy Trek because it offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with policymakers and industry leaders at the forefront of financial decision-making, deepen her understanding of how federal policy shapes markets, and continue contributing to a community that has become central to her Georgetown experience.
