The Georgetown McDonough Undergraduate Office of Professional Development works to enhance classroom learning with co-curricular and extra-curricular career development activities to help students compete in a variety of industries. From workshops to on-campus interviews to in-house one-on-one career counseling, student learn the tools, skills, and knowledge needed to effectively improve the management of organizations.  This programming includes one-on-one coaching, workshops, and events that complement the services offered by the Cawley Career Education Center. The programming is within the context of Georgetown's commitment to educating and caring of the whole person - cura personalis - which encourages focus on each student's unique strengths.

  • What's New

    Georgetown McDonough Office of Professional Development is developing on-line resources for undergraduate students.  Our latest addition is the summer webinar series.  Webinars will be posted here as they become available.

    • Webinar: How to Navigate the Recruiting Process.  Learn how the recruting process works for undergraduate students at Georgetown University.  Topics include how to frame the recruiting thought process, who comes to campus and when, and what resources are available for off-campus recruiting.
    • Webinar: Resumes, Cover Letters and LinkedIn, Oh My!  These documents are essential for the job search, but are often not used effectively.  Learn how to create cover letter, resume and LinkedIn profile that will stand out from the crowd.


    Additional Resources Available Through the Georgetown McDonough Office of Professional Development

    One-on-One Coaching
    Coaching hours are by appointment.  Students can make an appointment by clicking here.

    Walk-ins will be taken every Friday from 1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.  No appointment is necessary for these walk-in times.

    Small Group Advising
    Specialized small group programming will be scheduled for Wednesdays.  Programming is announced via email as it becomes available.

    Bootcamps & Workshops
    The Undergraduate Office of Professional Development will host workshops and bootcamps on a variety of topics such as resume writing, LinkedIn profile development, networking skills, managing an online presence, and mock interviews.  Additional workshops that cover a wide variety of topics are also available through the Cawley Career Education Center.

    Employer Events
    Employer events are scheduled throughout the semester and academic year through both the Undergraduate Office of Professional Development and the Cawley Career Education Center. Employer events are announced as they become available; users can also check the Cawley Career Education Center's site for more information on current programs.

    Career Treks
    Twice per semester, students are invited off-campus to visit a company to learn more about jobs available in that particular industry.  Treks are open to 10-15 students per trip. 

    Alumni Mentor Program
    The Alumni Mentor Program matches current sophomores and juniors with Georgetown McDonough alumni in the Washington, D.C. area.  Students and mentors meet formally and informally to discuss any question a student has about career development, life after Georgetown, and anything else related to the world of work.  Students should watch their email for more information about this year's program.
